.cur and .ani are Windows formats, but I have heard that they can be converted and used on Mac, but I cannot say you how.

a possible way change the format is to probably open the cursor in finder and then right-click on the cursor and press "get info" there will be a name at the bottom for example "dragon skimmy .cur" u should change the ".cur" to.....i'm not really sure about that part though.
