Help of using images.

I have trouble with inserting images to a description on a cursor or icon set. I tried copying and pasting an image to a code that can show images, but it shows <link> image, as it lead me to rw-designer.com/<link>. Can you help me insert images from another domain to a description on a cursor set or icon set?

Here is the link for RW formatting:

http://www.rw-designer.com/forum/1507

Here is how to do it for an icon:

[http://www.rw-designer.com/icon-set/baby-stuff click me! [[icon:10161]] click me!]

click me! icon-10161 click me!

Basically it is open bracket, link, space, visible text, space, icon in double brackets, space, visible text, closing bracket.

You can eliminate the visible texts and extra spaces:

icon-10161

You cannot link to images on another web site. There are 2 reasons: images on another web sites may change or disappear over time, which can be a problem. And secondly, hotlinking images is considered rude, because the other web site must pay for the delivered data and gets nothing from it.

That said, if you want to have a custom image in your set description, you can go to our blog, start creating a new post, upload an image, grab the code, cancel the post and use the code in the set description. But please remember that the actual icons or cursors are the main part of the set, an extra image may draw the attention away and it may mess up the shortened version of the description of the set.

To create a post where? You seem to be doing fine at creating posts here.

But where is the link to upload an image?

  • Go to your blog and open the full editor.
  • Scroll down a bit and look on the left for an image upload button below the blog window.
  • Once you have uploaded the image it will appear on your blog full editor pages below the blog window.
  • Click the image and it will give you a code in the blog window to copy for pasting in your blog, comments, description window.

You may need to refresh the page and re-enter your blog editor after you upload your image.

Linking to an outside website's (place other then RW) image is frowned on as it steals bandwidth.
Please do not hot link images like this.

It worked!

Yeah, it is difficult for a reason. Placing that large image in the description of your mario set kind of destroys the look of the whole page. Please use this feature sparingly and don't go overboard.

How do you resize icons in a description of a set?

cdl

Not sure what you are asking about.

nibbler

The icons in icon sets. Trying to resize the icons from icon sets.

If you are referring to the image that previews the set you cannot resize those images.

Yes.

(3 hours later): I figured this out. Thanks!

You just have to change the numbers specific to size parameters.
The sizes are generally 16x16x32, 24x24x32, 32x32x32, 48x48x32, 64x64x32, and 128x128x32.
Not all sizes may be available and if a size is not available the image will not appear, just the code text will appear.

  • Try to stay away from the larger sizes unless specifically trying to illustrate the detail of the image because it detracts from message you are trying to convey and it depreciates the website.

Here is the link to the forum post that discusses Forum Post Formatting.
