how do i make an image im creating as an icon a .jpg file?

If you have creaded an icon (.ico file), open it, select the image you want to turn into .jpg and click "Save current image as" in "File" menu. Then select .jpg format at the bottom of the dialog. Be aware that jpg does not support tranaparency and transparent pixel will become black.
