Cursor from image in the next RWCE

Published by on January 12th 2012.

Although you would have to wait few more weeks for the next RealWorld Cursor Editor, here is the first bit of information about the improvements you can expect. This time, it is about the Cursor from Image wizard.

In the past years, numerous people have suggested the image to cursor converter should be more powerful. I have listened to the complaints and I believe the new wizard would make all of them happy.

What has changed?

  • You can convert animated GIFs to cursors. And also animated PNGs.
  • You can select multiple images in the window and the wizard will create an animation. The individual images do not need to be same size and they may also be animated.
  • There is an instant preview window (in the lower right corner of the screenshot).
  • The file browser is using a simplified user interface without unnecessary controls giving more space to the actual files.

What stayed the same?

  • The wizard can still convert image strips to animations.
