When I place text on an icon I can't seem to get it to anti-alias. I've tried different fonts but I always get 'jaggies' whether I have the No-smoothing or Smoothing buttons selected. Am I doing it wrong or doesn't text anti-alias?
It currently uses Windows functions for font rendering. Anti-aliasing only has effect with larger font size. A workaround would be to draw larger text in a separate image and copy it to the icon and resize it. But it usually looks better without aa.
"But it usually looks better without aa."
That's true in many cases, but for example I had a 16x16 icon and I wanted to place a tick (from Wingdings) onto a blue circle. As a non-smoothed tick it looks like a spider's leg, and I'm sure that if it was smoothed it would look great. I'll try doing a huge tick and then shrink it.
I see, that is true. The next version will have also AA text.
