Not sure what you did wrong. The extra 'image' at the end of the '.png' is not necessary.This is how it should look without the double brackets:
image:icon-image/12693-16x16x32.png

The word 'image' will appear twice in the code, just not where you had it.

Alt stands for alternative.
You can use either name in those cases.
Your cursor set is fine.

The way I was naming them used to be the old windows designation. The way they should be is the way you have them listed which, i might add, corresponds with RWCE when uploading. I did put the 1 & 2, respectively, to the diagonal resize.
