I have created this Rainbow DGN Lines cursor set. The abbreviation DGN stands for diagonal. Those cursors are diagonal rainbow lines. Please be aware that none of those cursors are animated. All the 17 cursor roles in this cursor pack are static cursors. When I started, I first created a template with three resolutions for Windows 11. The three resolutions that I have used to create this cursor set is 32x32, 48x48 and 64x64 pixels. It took me several hours from start to finish to create this awesome cursor set for everyone to enjoy for December 31st 2024. The rainbow pattern in its diagonal left was hand drawn by me using lines. The number of lines thick the rainbow pattern varies across resolutions to properly fill the canvas. Below I state on how I created the 17 cursor roles.

Normal Select:

The Normal Select cursor role was scaled and drawn using black lines first to drawn out the border template for use later on. Then, I filled it and saved the filled version as a template fill for applying the background diagonal lines texture background to it. After filling in the Normal Select cursor role with the Rainbow DGN Lines template for each resolution, I saved the cursor file and used that as another template to make the following Help Select cursor role:

Help Select:

The Help Select cursor role that I made, I simply used the text tool to type the word HELP in block capital letters using the Arial font and left the default text color as black. Since the text is only one to two pixels thick, I was unable to use the rainbow pattern that I made, so I simply made the text black whilst typing it. No other alternatives were possible.

Working In Background:

This cursor role was simply using the mouse pointer cursor role that I designed for the Normal Select cursor role. In the top right-hand corner, I drew out the small hourglass cursor that appears in that corner of this cursor role. I drew the hourglass cursor and manually filled it with the line toll and drawn horizontal lines in a rainbow pattern. It was not possible to make the rainbow pattern diagonal because the cursor is too small for that, so the orientation was not applicable for a diagonal fill effect.

Busy:

However, for the Busy cursor role, there were plenty of space for me to apply the background rainbow fill effect that I have created for my primary template prior to start making the set. That was easy. The Busy cursor role was made in a square shape outline the canvas to form an hourglass shape that fits inside a perfect square canvas.

Precision Select:

I drew out this cursor's outlines first using black lines, then saved it, and filled the Precision Select cursor role, then I saved it again with the color fill. I have used the same method to flood fill the Precision Select cursor role using my rainbow background pattern that I made. After making that cursor, I used parts of it to cut and paste areas to form the Text Select cursor role that I made next.

Text Select:

The Text Select cursor role was made from deleting and copying parts from its predecessor cursor, Precision Select. Parts were cut, moved, deleted and pasted to make that text cursor. The process was very easy. I was required to re-apply the rainbow background fill after doing this cursor because all of its rainbow pattern looked broken and messed up, so I had to restore it.

Handwriting:

This cursor role is a pen cursor. I have drawn this cursor by quickly and effectively draw out diagonal lines. I turned off cursor smoothness when making all the cursor roles to have much better and more precise line drawing abilities. This Handwriting cursor that I drew out for all the three cursor resolutions is quite thick so that its rainbow lined pattern can fit inside of it well and be displayed properly.

Unavailable:

To make the Unavailable cursor role, I simply used the cursor tool to draw out a filled circle. Instead of a donut shape for this cursor, I chose to make it a filled circle to make it more unique and also, I have drawn out an outing for it using the circle tool as well. I have used layers constantly when making this cursor role and all the other cursor roles as well.

Vertical Resize:

The Vertical Resize cursor role is simply a double headed arrow. I have drawn out its arrows to make them the right size to fit on the canvas for all the three cursor resolutions. That is a very easy and simply cursor to manually draw. I subsequently drew out the following Horizontal Resize cursor role and applied the rainbow lined fill effect that I have made as mentioned before.

Horizontal Resize:

The way that I have made the Horizontal Resize cursor role was by flipping its predecessor cursor right. That means that the Horizontal Resize cursor role is a flipped horizontal version of the Vertical Resize cursor role. Since its texture filled effect that I have previously applied was also flipped, so I was required to re-fill all the three resolutions of this cursor again to obtain the correct orientation of the diagonal pattern fill effect that I created earlier on.

Diagonal Resize 1:

To make a perfect Diagonal Resize 1 cursor role, I was required to manually draw out this cursor on the canvas, each copy of the cursor in its own resolution by drawing out the outline first, then filled it and saved two files. One for the outline and the other for the fill template that I needed to have to create the finished version of this cursor role. Lastly, I applied the background texture lined fill effect that I made to colourize this cursor role.

Diagonal Resize 2:

The Diagonal Resize 2 is simply a mirror version of the Diagonal Resize 1 cursor role that I made before making this cursor. After quickly making it, I have re-pasted the background pattern fill effect that I made by using the Fill effect and custom Pattern fills from the application's menu. Flipping the cursor into a horizontal mirror orientation did not mess up or pixelate the cursor.

Move:

The Move cursor role was created by me by using the Vertical Resize cursor as a template. I pressed on Ctrl+A to select all the pixels on the canvas, then I clicked on Ctrl+C to copy everything on the canvas, then I pasted the full canvas selection by pressing Ctrl+V to paste a copy of the Vertical Resize cursor role. After doing that I flipped the selected cursor horizontal to form the Move cursor role out of it. The Move cursor role is two cursors in one, a Vertical Resize cursor role and a Horizontal Resize cursor role crossing each other in the middle. After this was done, the last step for me was to apply the background lined texture pattern and then applied the border outline to finish off the Move cursor. All the same steps were repeated for all the three cursor resolutions.

Alternate Select:

I also used the Vertical Resize cursor role to form the Alternate Select cursor role from it by deleting the bottom arrowhead, then I drew out its outlines. I filled it using the background pattern that I made at the beginning, and applied the outline fill myself.

Link Select:

The Link Select cursor role was a bit more challenging for me. I used the cursor wizard to make a hand cursor role to fit 100% of the canvas and first disabled the interior fill and only left the black border outline. I set the value of the outline to -10 to have the line thickness set to one pixel only. After doing that, I used the layers panel and made some retouches and adjustments to apply some fixed to missing pixels for the fingers and outer edges of the hands. Then, after going for this tedious work I saved the file as an outline template and saved another copy with a color fill. I then moved the hand a little bit by one pixel for the 32x32 and 48x48 resolutions and moved the third hand of 64x64 pixels by two pixels to center the background pattern fill effect after pasting it. After doing all that work, I applied the black hand template that I saved earlier and repeated the same process over and over two more times for each of the cursor resolutions to complete the hand cursor role. The Link Select cursor role was easy for me to do and also easier than I previously thought.

Location Select:

For the Location Select cursor role, I have simply used the Link Select cursor role and drew a pin cursor at the bottom right-hand side and manually applied horizontal rainbow lines subsequent to each other in color order from the colors of the rainbow. That is the same procedure that I carried out throughout this whole cursor set.

Person Select:

I did the same thing with the Person Select cursor role than its previous cursor Location Select. I have drawn out a person cursor at the bottom right-hand side of the canvas, beside the big hand cursor to make the Person Select cursor role. I have manually drawn lines horizontally inside the person cursor to make the rainbow effect, but I was unable to make it diagonal for small cursors like this, so a horizontal fill is valid for a very small cursor.

Now that you know how I made this cursor set, you should be excited and willing to download it and share it with others on social media as well as downloading it for yourself if you like this Rainbow DGN Lines cursor set. Please note that this cursor set is complete with 17 cursor roles for Windows 11 and the full set comes in three resolutions for different DPI settings under the Windows 11 operating system.

You are free to download and use this cursor set on your computer as issued by the Custom (contact author) license, but you are not allowed to upload or re-upload this cursor set on this site or any other site as mentioned below:
